Trip Overview

The Kori Trek is a hidden gem in the Annapurna region of Nepal, offering trekkers an opportunity to explore uncharted territory while immersing themselves in the pristine beauty of the Himalayas. This trek is perfect for those who seek solitude and an authentic cultural experience away from the more popular trekking routes. With breathtaking mountain vistas, diverse flora and fauna, and the chance to interact with local communities, the Kori Trek promises an unforgettable adventure.

Scenic Beauty and Tranquil Trails

The Kori Trek takes you through some of the most stunning landscapes in Nepal. As you ascend through lush rhododendron forests, cross bubbling streams, and traverse terraced fields, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the majestic Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The trail is relatively quiet, allowing you to fully appreciate the serene environment and the natural beauty that surrounds you. The peaceful trails of Kori are ideal for those who want to escape the crowds and experience the Himalayas in their most unspoiled form.

Cultural Immersion

One of the highlights of the Kori Trek is the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the region. The trek begins in the traditional Gurung village of Sikles, where you can explore the unique architecture, visit local monasteries, and learn about the customs and traditions of the Gurung people. As you continue your journey, you will pass through other charming villages, such as Tangting, where the warm hospitality of the local communities will make you feel at home. These interactions provide a deep insight into the daily lives and cultural practices of the people who inhabit this beautiful region.

Diverse Flora and Fauna

The Kori Trek is not just about stunning mountain views and cultural experiences; it also offers trekkers a chance to explore a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The trail passes through various ecosystems, from subtropical forests at lower elevations to alpine meadows higher up. During the spring season, the rhododendron forests burst into bloom, creating a vibrant tapestry of colors. Birdwatchers will be delighted by the variety of bird species that can be spotted along the way, while those interested in wildlife may catch glimpses of Himalayan tahr, langur monkeys, and even the elusive snow leopard.

Best Time to do Kori Trek

The best times to undertake the Kori Trek are during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. During these periods, the weather is generally clear and stable, offering the best conditions for trekking and the most spectacular mountain views.

Essential Gear and Preparation

Proper preparation is key to a successful trek. Here are some essentials you should bring:

  • Clothing: Layered clothing for varying temperatures, including thermal wear, a warm jacket, waterproof outerwear, and trekking pants.
  • Footwear: High-quality, comfortable trekking boots with good ankle support.
  • Gear: A sturdy backpack, a sleeping bag suitable for cold temperatures, trekking poles, and a headlamp.
  • Other Essentials: Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a reusable water bottle with a purification system, personal first aid kit, and snacks.
Conclusion

The Kori Trek is an extraordinary journey that combines natural beauty, cultural richness, and the thrill of adventure. Whether you are an experienced trekker or a novice seeking a unique experience, the Kori Trek offers something for everyone. Join us on this remarkable adventure and discover the hidden treasures of the Himalayas.

Adventure of a lifetime in the Himalayas My experience with Bhairam and Himal Eco Treks was amazing! Everything was accounted for from Kathmandu hotels, local and remote transportation (that flight into Lukla is one to remember), tea houses on the trails, food, knowledgeable guides happy to inform on local culture and what that peak waaay in the distance was. I would definitely travel with this company again.

Excellent Manaslu trek experience Bhairam was our lead guide for an 11 day trek on Manaslu Circuit, with a party of 5. We had 2 guides and 3 porters. Our experience was excellent in every respect, including arrangements from pick up from airport to departure. Bhairam was wise, patient, kind, generous, and led our group with experience and skill. I highly recommend Bhairam, as well as the company he is very much a part of, Himal Eco Treks.

Gokyo Lakes and Kathmandu Tour The team at Himal Eco Treks went above and beyond for our trek to Gokyo Lakes. They made sure our trip was unforgettable, stress-free, and safe. Thank you to Bhairam and Gakul who were excellent guides and managed all the little details that made the trip run smoothly. They set a comfortable pace and were always checking in with us. I want to add that from what I observed the porters they hired were treated with dignity and concern for their safety, as well. Thank you to Ramesh for a fantastic post-trip tour of Kathmandu's beautiful historic sites. 10/10 recommend Himal Eco Treks for anyone considering a Himalayan trek. It is a life-changing experience.

Great Himalayan trek and Kathmandu tour Himal Eco Treks did a fantastic job organizing and guiding our trek in the Everest region. We had comfortable accommodations, good food, and our guides did a great job pacing our group well and supporting members of our group who were having trouble. Post-trek, Himal Eco Trek arranged great last minute tours of Kathmandu and Chitwan. Our guides also helped arrange a special birthday celebration for me when my birthday happened to be one of the days of our trek. Highly recommend for anyone interested in treks or other tours in Nepal!

Go visit Goyko region! I had a wonderful experience with a group of friends trekking to Goyko, Goyko lakes and summit in Goyko Ri. It was as if we submitted the top of the world! The tour is very well organized, the guides were very knowledgeable, accommodating, and friendly to be around. The guides kept us all safe at altitude too. The tour company was also very flexible about arranging different side tours in Kathmandu and different departure dates for members of our group. It was a real pleasure and I look forward to working with them again in the future.

Trip, trek and visits, 2 weeks in Nepal organized by Himal Eco Treks company. Professional and reliable, we are very happy. We chose this agency based on a friend’s recommendation, and we’re so glad we did! Now we’re happy to recommend it ourselves. We spent two unforgettable weeks traveling across Nepal, with everything organized by Bhairam: guided tours (Heritage Tour in Kathmandu recommended), a multi-day trek (special thanks to our porter, Dak), transportation, accommodations, and all the logistics. Everything was thoughtfully arranged and adapted to our pace, making the entire experience smooth and stress-free. It was our first trip to Nepal, hopefully not the last. Professional, reliable, and genuinely caring, we are truly satisfied and grateful! Sandrine and Yamil
