Lhasa city, also known as the city of gods is the major attraction of the Glimpse of Tibet tour. This tour takes you to the forbidden land of Tibet. In fact, learn about the historical, cultural and architectural glory of Lhasa city through this tour. Lhasa city has remained untouched for a long time. Due to which it has been able to preserve its art, culture and initial glory flawless.

The artistic palaces in Lhasa like Potala Palace and Norbulingka palace are wonderful work of fine arts and interiors. The carvings, handwork’s and crafts craved in the walls, roofs, windows and pillars are excellent. The dramatic location Potala palace makes it a highlight of the Lhasa city. The grand palace stands tall in the Red hill dominating the skyline of the Lhasa city. Norbulingka palace is another grand palace of Dalai Lama which is marvelously illustrate with excellent art and craftworks.

Besides that, Lhasa is adorned with many other temples and monasteries. Jokhang temple is an oldest and holy temple. This temple is surrounded by the Barkor street. You can find many pilgrims moving around the temple which has its own religious importance. The Drepung and Sera monastery are other two must visit places of Lhasa that are includes in this tour too. These monasteries are also a beautiful presentation of fine art and craft. The color contrast of red, yellow and golden roofs makes the monasteries more charming. The peaceful environment around the monasteries is impressive. The monks dress in red are the successors of the unique Tibetan teachings and culture. Sera monasteries being the largest monasteries of the world preserves around ten thousand monks.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu

Land on the grounds of Nepal. A representative from Himal Eco Treks will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for check in. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu. (Breakfast included)

Day 2: Obtain Chinese visa and sightseeing tour in Kathmandu

We will arrange for your Chinese Visa. Meanwhile, you can enjoy sightseeing tour to the UNESCO listed heritage sites in Kathmandu. You will be guided to Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath stupa, Pashupatinath temple and Boudhanath stupa. Explore the unique art, culture and history of Nepal in the UNESCO listed sites. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu. (Breakfast included)

Day 3: Fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa

Fly to Lhasa. The flight above the towering Himalayas is an amazing experience that will give you a bird’s eye view of the mountains. Rise above the Himalayas and observe the beauty that lies in snow clad mountains. Upon your arrival at Gonggar airport, you will be welcomed by our Chinese crew who will pick you up and transfer you to a hotel in Lhasa for check in. Overnight at a hotel in Lhasa. Day 4: First day of sightseeing tour in Lhasa

You will explore the magnificence of Lhasa city accompanied by your guide and an interpreter. Lhasa is culturally very rich and has many monasteries. The artistic works in the monasteries of the Lhasa is mind blowing. Amongst them is a well-preserved Sera Monastery. It looks spectacular with its white walls and golden roofs. You can see several hundred monks who study and live in this monastery. Next on list is Norbulingka, the palace of the Dalai Lama that is so grand and artistically phenomenon. Exploring the palace, we head to Jokhang Temple. It is the most sacred temple Tibet. The temple is surrounded by Barkor, the central market of Lhasa. The narrow pebbled streets in the Bakor makes you feel like it is a maze. Overnight at a hotel in Lhasa. (Breakfast included)

Day 5: Second day of sightseeing tour in Lhasa

Today is a delightful day when you’ll visit the Potala Palace. Yes, Potala palace is the same palace that dominates the whole Lhasa city. It can be the first thing that you may have noticed in the city. The palace is astonishingly magnificent. It was constructed in the 17th century and features the Dalai Lama’s quarters and many vital chapels. Collecting the wonders of Potala palace, we head towards Drepung Monastery. Once, it used to be the largest monastery with around eleven thousand monks. Though the number has decreased to hundreds, the monastery still preserves its cultural importance and artistic magnificence. Overnight at a hotel in Lhasa. (Breakfast included)

Day 6: Flight from Lhasa to Kathmandu

Today, we take our flight to Lhasa. The flight over the pinnacles of great Himalayas! If you are unaware of the mountain flights then the flight to and from Lhasa is nothing more than that. Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, check in to the hotel. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu. (Breakfast included)

Day 7: Farewell

After seven days long companionship, it’s time to bid you a goodbye! Your guide will escort you to the airport for your journey ahead.
