Saga Dawa Festival is one of the most celebrated festivals in Tibet. This Festival is very important for Tibetans. Tibetans celebrate this festival, in honor of the life of Lord Buddha and his teachings, Saga Dawa festival. They celebrate this festival on the full moon day of the fourth lunar month each year (as per Tibetan Calendar).
Lord Buddha taught to live a noble life. He told his follower to not offer flowers or lights over him after his death. He also taught that death is an ultimate truth and nothing lasts forever. A most important lesson was that a human body is sure to disintegrate with the blink of time. Thus, during the tour, you can learn rituals of the Buddhist religion.

Saga Dawa Festival Tour is a colorful festival tour in Tibet. Buddhist pilgrimage around the world come to Mt. Kailash to perform Kora. During this festival, the giant flagpole at Tarpoche is replaced with a new one. The colorful flag pole is raised high and pointed towards Gyandrak monastery. In this ceremony, monks perform various rituals with traditional music. It is necessary that the flagpole always stand straight. Because people believe that if the flag does not stand straight something bad will happen to them.

Moreover, for this festival people wear their finest traditional dresses and dance to the holy chant. One of the major highlights of this festival is the traditional drama of demons and good spirit. This is the time where people enjoy, eat, dance and cherish the moment. They remember Buddha and his noble teachings and enjoy the festival to its fullest.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu

Land on the grounds of Nepal. A representative from Himal Eco Treks will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for check in. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu. (Breakfast included)

Day 2: Day in Kathmandu for visa preparation

We will arrange for your Chinese Visa. Meanwhile, you can enjoy sightseeing tour to the UNESCO listed heritage sites in Kathmandu. You will be guided to Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath stupa, Pashupatinath temple and Boudhanath stupa. Explore the unique art, culture and history of Nepal in the UNESCO listed sites. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu. (Breakfast included)

Day 3: Another Day in Kathmandu for visa preparation

Another Day in Kathmandu for visa preparation. You have the option to take a tour around Kathmandu valley

Day 4: drive to Shyaprubesi

Day 5: Drive to Kerung

Day 6: Drive to Saga (330km/ 7 Hours - 4,450 miters)

Day 7: Drive to Lake Manasarovar (370km/7 Hours - 4,580 Miters). Overnight at Guest House

Day 8: Attend Saga Dawa Festival at Tarboche

Day 9: Drive to valley of the God (7km). and Kailash parikrama

Day 10: Second day of Kailash Parikrama. Reach at Juthulpuk (4,760m) via Dolma La pass (5,623m)

Day 11: Kailash kora final day and drive back to Saga

Day 12: Cross nepal tibet Immigration Kerung. Further drive to Kathmandu with Nepali transporataion.

Day 13: Departure Day

 Verified Adventure of a lifetime in the Himalayas My experience with Bhairam and Himal Eco Treks was amazing! Everything was accounted for from Kathmandu hotels, local and remote transportation (that flight into Lukla is one to remember), tea houses on the trails, food, knowledgeable guides happy to inform on local culture and what that peak waaay in the distance was.  Verified Excellent Manaslu trek experience Bhairam was our lead guide for an 11 day trek on Manaslu Circuit, with a party of 5. We had 2 guides and 3 porters. Our experience was excellent in every respect, including arrangements from pick up from airport to departure. Bhairam was wise, patient, kind, generous, and led our group with experience and skill.  Verified Great Himalayan trek and Kathmandu tour Himal Eco Treks did a fantastic job organizing and guiding our trek in the Everest region. We had comfortable accommodations, good food, and our guides did a great job pacing our group well and supporting members of our group who were having trouble. Post-trek, Himal Eco Trek arranged great last minute tours of Kathmandu and Chitwan. Our guides also helped arrange a special birthday celebration for me when my birthday happened to be one of the days of our trek.  Verified Fantastic experience with Himal Eco Treks to Gokyo Such a great trek, with fantastic views! Bhairam and Gakul were great with managing all the logistics and picking the best tea houses, and were fantastic with setting a safe and comfortable pace for the hiking.  Verified Go visit Goyko region! I had a wonderful experience with a group of friends trekking to Goyko, Goyko lakes and summit in Goyko Ri. It was as if we submitted the top of the world! The tour is very well organized, the guides were very knowledgeable, accommodating, and friendly to be around. The guides kept us all safe at altitude too. The tour company was also very flexible about arranging different side tours in Kathmandu and different departure dates for members of our group.
