Lhasa with Kailash Tour and Trek is a mystical journey that takes us along a holy trail to experience the wilderness that lies in the high altitude landscape of Tibet. The journey starts with a flight to Lhasa which is a magical flight in itself that offers beautiful views of pinnacles of towering mountains. Similarly, Jokhang temple is the oldest temple that is surrounded by the Bakor streets. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Day
Arrive in the airport after clearing your immigration and via procedure. A representative from Himal Eco Trek will pick you up and escort you to a hotel for check in. Enjoy our night at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Kathmandu, Sightseeing tour to Buddhanath and Pashupatinath
Get an authentic taste of history, culture and art of Nepal in the UNESCO listed heritage sites in Kathmandu. Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square and head towards Swayambhunath stupa. Experience the unique aspect of Hindu culture in Pashupatinath temple and go to the highest stupa of the world – Boudhanath stupa. As you conclude your guided tour, return back to hotel. Enjoy your night at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 3: Patan Sightseeing tour
After viewing the heritage sites in Kathmandu, we head towards the UNESCO listed heritage site in Patan. Patan Durbar Square is the major attraction of the day. Taste the authentic art and architecture in the old buildings and temples of Nepal. The palace built in the Malla period of Nepal reflects the grand lifestyle of the kings in that period. Visit Krishna temple and Patan Dhoka museum. The museum contains various things of ancient importance. After exploring the Patan Durbar Square, we return back to Kathmandu. We can visit the busy streets of Kathmandu and get dissolved in its chaotic nature. Enjoy your night at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 4: Kathmandu – Lhasa
Take a flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa. After around one hour flight above the Himalayas, you will land on the Gonggar airort. The flight is scenic that resembles any mountain flight experience. When you clear immigration and custom procedure in Chinese airport and come out, you will meet your Chinese guide waiting for you. From the airport, you take a drive towards Lhasa. Overnight at a hotel in Lhasa.
Day 5: Sightseeing day in Lhasa
Today is our first sightseeing day in Lhasa. We visit the popular Sera monastery, Norbulingka palace and Jhokhang temple. Sera monastery is an ancient well preserved monastery that has its art and architecture intact. Norbulingka palace is a grand palace of Dalai Lama and Jhokhang temple is an old temple that is surrounded by the Bakor street. After completing our journey for the day, we return back to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 6: Explore Lhasa
Another day in Lhasa to explore its wonders. Today we visit the Potala palace, a grand palace that lies on the top of Red Hill and dominates the whole Lhasa city. The palace consists of quarter of Dalai Lama and many other important chapels. After exploring the palace, we head towards Drepung monastery which is one of the largest monastery and is artistically fascinating. Overnight at a hotel in Lhasa.
Day 7: Lhasa - Yamdrok Lake – Gyantse
After two complete days sightseeing tour Lhasa, we start our overland adventure. We drive for the full day to reach Gyantse. On the way to Gyantse, we cross two passes namely Kamba la (4794m) and the Karo la pass (5010m). The views of wild Tibetan plateau and landscape from the passes are magnificent. As we cross the Kamba la, we will come across a famous turquoise coloured lake called Yamdrok Tso. As the lake water is turquoise coloured, it is also popularly known as Turquoise Lake. This can be a perfect spot for you to take out your camera for capturing the beauty of lakes in high altitude region. Spend your night at a motel in Gyantse.
Day 8: Gyantse – Shigatse
Leaving Gyantse, we head towards Shigatse. Early in the morning, we visit Gyantse stupa and a popular monastery in that place. Then we continue our overland drive towards Shigatse. After around two hours’ drive, we reach Shigatse. Shigatse is the second largest city in Tibet. A giant Buddha Statue in the famous Tashilumpo monastery is the major attraction of this place. Upon our arrival, we visit the monastery and explore the giant statue of Buddha. The Tashilumpo monastery is considered as the seat of Panchen Lama. We spend our night at a guesthouse in Shigatse.
Day 9: Old Zhongba
Today you drive along the wild landscape of Tibet to reach old Zhongba. On the way you cross Saga which is a small Tibetan City and drive through the barren territory as we pass some villages and camps of Yak herders. Overnight at a guesthouse in Old Zhongba.
Day 10: Darchen/Tarboche
Today, we drive for around 13 kilometres to reach Tarboche. To all those travellers who are not joining the parikrama can perform a small parikrama about 100 metres of Tarboche flag which is also regarded as Parikrama of holy Mt. Kailash. We further drive another two kilometers by jeep which would be our halt for today. Overnight at a guesthouse in Tarboche.
Day 11: Kora around Mount Kailash: Darboche - Drirapuk Gompa
Today we begin our real Kora journey on foot or horse/yak back. The trail goes through few ups and downs until we reach Drirapuk. On the way, we will be blessed with the magnificent view of north face of holy mountain Mt. Kailash. We pay our visit in Drirapuk Gompa and stay at a guesthouse in Drirapuk for the night.
Day 12: Kora around Mount Kailash: Zuthrul Puk - Darchen - Lake Mansarovar Seralung
Our walk for the day is very pleasant. We walk through a beautiful trail with many caves, mani stones and birds to greet us on our way. The valley is considered as the valley of enlightenment. As we pass Darchen, we will find our Landcruiser waiting for us for our journey ahead. Darchen is the point where our parikrama ends as we have circumvented the holy Mt. Kailash. As we jump in our land cruiser, we drive towards Mansarovar lake. We perform puja in the lake and take a holy bath and visit Seralung gompa. We set up our tent for overnight camp at Mansarovar.
Day 13: Trugo Gompa.
We start our day with an amazing view of azure lake and clear peak of Mt. Kailash and head towards Trugo Gompa. Our walk for the day is long but easy. As you reach Trugo gompa, pay your visit and stay at the gompa for the night.
Day 14: Trugu Gompa - Chiu Gompa
Leaving Trugu Gompa, we walk towards another gompa named Chiu gompa. Our walk is easy and magnificent. Walking along such a pristine environment with wild landscape is an enthralling experience. We can enjoy a hot water bath in the natural hot springs in Trugu gompa. We spend our night at Chiu gompa.
Day 15: Chiu gompa - Paigutso Lake.
Enjoying the hot water bath at Chiu gompa and visiting the monastery there, we head towards Paigutso lake. The azure and serene lake in that high elevation region is fascinating. Spend your night at a camp in Paigutso lake.
Day 16: Paigutso - Rongbuk (Everest Base Camp)
At Paigutso, we will have our landcruiser ready for us. Today, we leave the lake and head towards the Rongbuk i.e. Everest Base Camp trek to live our dream of being on the top of the world. We spend our night at a camp in Rongbuk.
Day 17: Rongbuk - Everest Base Camp - Tingri - Zhangmu / Khasa
Early in the morning, we can see the sunrise over the glittering snow of Mt. Everest. We can either walk or take a drive to Everest Base Camp. After reaching the base camp and appreciating the panoramic views of mountains, we drive down to the plains at Tingri. Then we join the main road to Arniko Highway that takes us to Nepal via Thorong La Pass. From the pass, we can get some wonderful views of Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Shishipagma, etc and many more. We descend down to Nyalam and drive along the Tibetan plateau to Zhangmu. Overnight at a guesthouse in Zhangmu.
Day 18: Zhangmu / Khasa – Kathmandu
We cross the China – Nepal border and get inside Nepal. We complete the immigration formalities at Kodari and drive back to Kathmandu enjoying the views of lush hills at the riverside of Nepal. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 19: Kathmandu
A free day in Kathmandu. You can take a rest or opt for Bhaktapur sightseeing tour. You can also visit malls in Kathmandu for the last minute shopping if interested. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 20: Return flight Kathmandu - to your home country.
As you complete your journey in Nepal, you will be transferred to the airport for your journey ahead.
