They celebrate this festival on the full moon day of the fourth lunar month each year (as per Tibetan Calendar).
Lord Buddha taught to live a noble life. He told his follower to not offer flowers or lights over him after his death. He also taught that death is an ultimate truth and nothing lasts forever. Saga Dawa Festival Tour is a colorful festival tour in Tibet. Buddhist pilgrimage around the world come to Mt. Kailash to perform Kora. During this festival, the giant flagpole at Tarpoche is replaced with a new one. The colorful flag pole is raised high and pointed towards Gyandrak monastery. In this ceremony, monks perform various rituals with traditional music. It is necessary that the flagpole always stand straight. Because people believe that if the flag does not stand straight something bad will happen to them.
