Sera monastery is the largest monastery that is home to thousands of monks. These monks are the successor of the unique Buddhist preaching. The golden color roofs, white and red buildings are the peculiar nature that the monasteries and the palaces possess. Jokhang temple is the oldest temple in Lhasa which reflects the unique Tibetan features. The temple is surrounded by the Bharkor street which is quite busy and has many shops stalled around. We can find the many pilgrims encircling the temple which has its own religious importance. Norbulingka Palace is a summer palace of Dalai Lama that is artistically phenomenon.

The artistic works in the monasteries of the Lhasa is mind blowing. Amongst them is a well-preserved Sera Monastery. It looks spectacular with its white walls and golden roofs. You can see several hundred monks who study and live in this monastery. Next on list is Norbulingka, the palace of the Dalai Lama that is so grand and artistically phenomenon. Exploring the palace, we head to Jokhang Temple. It is the most sacred temple Tibet. The temple is surrounded by Barkor, the central market of Lhasa. Today is a delightful day when you’ll visit the Potala Palace. Yes! Potala palace is the same palace that dominates the whole Lhasa city. It can be the first thing that you may have noticed in the city. The palace is astonishingly magnificent. It was constructed in the 17th century and features the Dalai Lama’s quarters and many vital chapels. Collecting the wonders of Potala palace, we head towards Drepung Monastery. Once, it used to be the largest monastery with around eleven thousand monks. Though the number has decreased to hundreds, the monastery still preserves its cultural importance and artistic magnificence. Overnight at a hotel in Lhasa. (Breakfast included)
We wake up early and continue our journey in a comfortable Land cruiser. With the stunning landscape on view, we follow Tsangpo river and ascend up to Khampa La (4794m). We enjoy the beautiful views of Yamdok Tso Lake and snow-capped peak of Nazin Kang Sa (7252m) from the pass. We further drive westwards over the Karo La (5045m) with the awesome view of a tremendous glacier. We pass colourful valleys and villages to Gyantse. In Gyantse, we visit Gyantse Kumbum and Gyantse Dzong. The Kumbum is a massive stupa and the Dzong is a fort that was founded in the 14th century. After exloring the kumbum and dzong, we drive for around an hour and half to Shigatse. Overnight at a hotel in Shigatse (Breakfast included)
We traverse along the Friendship Highway admiring the desert like high altitude landscape of Tibet. On the way, we cross Gyamtso La (5220m), the highest pass on our travel that lies beyond Lhatse. Descending down to the plains, we passing monasteries and the camps of the herders and drive to Shegar. On the way, we visit two popular monasteries namely Natang monastery and Sakya monastery. Today, we head towards Zhangmu. On the way, we pass Lalung La (5124m) and Shung La (5200m). From the pass, we will be rewarded with the great views of mountains like Cho- oyu, Gauri Shankar, Sishapangma and Menlungtse. Moving forward, we continue our drive until we reach Zhangmu. Overnight at a hotel in Zhangmu. (Breakfast included)
Leaving Zhangmu behind, we move forward towards Friendship Bridge. We cross the bridge and pass Bhotekoshi river which marks the border of Nepal and China. At Kodari, we meet our Nepalese crew and continue with Nepal immigration formalities. We jump over our vehicle and drive along the lush landscape to Kathmandu. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
