Patan Day Tour takes you to a beautiful city of Patan which is located around 5 km south to the Kathmandu valley, on the southern side of the Bagmati River. Patan is one of the three royal cities of the valley beside Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. First of all, Patan is a beautiful city that havens various temples and palaces built during the Malla regime in the medieval period. Patan Durbar Square, Bungmati, and Khokana are the major attractions of this city. We can experience the art, culture, and history of the city in the UNESCO listed Patan Durbar Square. Besides that, we can also explore the unique lifestyle and tradition of local people in the streets of Bungmati and Khokana.

Patan Durbar Square

Patan Durbar Square is the major attraction of the Patan Day Tour. Acknowledging the glory and significance of this place, UNESCO has listed it under the world heritage sites in Kathmandu. Krishna Mandir, Taleju Bhawani, Bhimsen temple, and Vishwanath temple are the major attractions of this place. This place attracts a lot of devotees from all over the country. Due to that many people frequently visit this place. All the historical archives are a treasure inside the museum of this palace and monuments that are of great significance.

The premise of Patan Durbar Square is very peaceful and people of all generation come here for recreation. It can be a perfect place for hanging out with friends and beloved ones. In the evening, with the lights on the streets, the whole environment becomes blissful and vibrant.


After our visit to Patan Durbar Square, we proceed to Bungmati. Bungmati is a place of significance to the local Newar people. It is considered as the birthplace of the Rato Macchendranath (patron of the city). Moreover, Rato Macchendranath Jatra is one of the major festivals among-st the Newar people. When the Rato Macchendranath is moved around the streets. Rato Macchendranath stays in the shikhara style temple in Bugmati for six months and spends rest of the time in Patan. Therefore, Bugmati is an interesting place to visit.


Finally, from Bungmati, we head to Khokana. Khokana is an interesting Newari village which truly depicts the lifestyle of typical local Newari people. It is well-known for two things, mustard oil, and a local temple. This is a beautiful village which will give you an insight into the rural lifestyle of people. It is so tranquil and peaceful. Also, you will find friendly people who will greet you – “Namaste” and are so friendly. Thus the narrow lanes, streets and the beautifully carved windows and doors will impress you.
