Overview

Chulu East peak is another interesting peak that lies just above the Manang valley in the Mustang region of Nepal. It is located at the northern side of Annapurna Base Camp and rising tall to the south east of Chulu west peak. It offers some fascinating views of the peaks in Annapurna range along with Gangapurna, Glacier Dome, Dhaulagiri, Tilicho Peak, Manaslu, etc. and possesses a great potential for an expedition. Chulu East peak climbing is not only an expedition package but also an adventurous journey. During this trek you can also experience the excitement of crossing Thorong La pass. It also gives you an experience of being on the Annapurna Base Camp. Nevertheless, the exploration of Marsyangdi and Kali Gandaki valley is also a highlight of this journey.

Chulu East Peak is technically difficult yet straightforward climb up the summit. You should be physically fit for the ascend and a prior climbing experience. That will help to make your expedition journey more easy and joyous. If you do not have prior experience of climbing but know how to use crampons, ice axes and ropes then you are qualified for Chulu East Peak climbing.

Thorong La pass is the highest pass in the world at an elevation of 5,416 meters from sea level. Similarly, Muktinath is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. Both Thorong La and Muktinath offer some splendid views of mountains in Annapurna panorama. Experience the pleasure of walking along the appealing valley of Manang and deepest gorge of the world – Kali Gandaki gorge. You can get the experience of walking there while attempting for the Chulu East peak climbing.

The journey to Chulu East peak starts with a scenic drive from Kathmandu valley to Dumre. The trekking journey goes up to the Marsyangdi valley and follows a trail to Annapurna region until we reach Chulu East Peak. From Chulu East Peak, we embark our way up to Thorong La pass and then descend down to Muktinath. Leaving Muktinath, we further descend down to Jomsom from where we take a flight back to Kathmandu via Pokhara airport.

Detail Itinerary

You will be welcomed by us at the airport and transferred to the hotel for check in. Enjoy your time at the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Early in the morning, your guide will pick you up at the hotel for the sightseeing tour. Enjoy the historical and cultural aspect of Nepal in Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath stupa, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath stupa. Today’s day is set aside for any last minute preparation for your trek if necessary.

Today, we drive to Jagat through Besisahar. Our drive to Jagat would be a awesome with scenery all around. The view of the countryside, beautiful landscape along with lush and beautiful environment would be our attraction for today. Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Jagat.

Today, we start our trekking journey and follow our trail to Dharapani. Our trail climbs up as we head to Chamje. We pass a beautiful waterfall and a suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi river. We follow our trail along Marsyandi River and ascend up to Tal. Our trail from Tal is quite rocky. However, we cross the valley and continue our walk until we reach Dharapani. We stop at a guesthouse in Dharapani for an overnight halt.

Today, our trail climbs up to the heights of 2630m to Chame. From Dharapani, we climb up and pass a forest to Chame. Chame is the head quarter of Manang district which is well known for its stunning views of Annapurna panorama. Overnight at a guesthouse in Chame.

Our trekking journey starts will a walk through the forest. On our way, we cross two bridges after which we catch a glimpse of rock flank. The rock flanks are actually of Paungda Danda. From this point, we continue our journey further to Pisang. Enjoy your dinner at a guesthouse in Pisang.

Leaving Pisang, we divert from the trail of Annapurna circuit and take a steep climb above the Marsyangdi River to Nagawa village. The impressive views of the snow-capped mountains and wild landscape along our trail is mind blowing. From the village, we continue North West to the dry terrain until we reach Juju village. Today, we spend our night under a tent.

Once we take heights, acclimatization becomes essential. Today, we spend our day in Juju village exploring the people, their lifestyle and the close up views of Chulu peak. Another night under a tent at Juju.

Our trail today is quite strenuous. We climb up steep to the rocky moraine beneath the ridge. The views of Chulu peak and Annapurna range along our way is marvellous. Overnight at a tented camp in Chulu High Camp.

Yet another day of acclimatization where we prepare for our climb tomorrow. We check our equipment, rehearse and warm up ourselves for climbing the Chulu east peak. Overnight at a tented camp in Chulu High Camp.

Today is the main day of our journey. We wake up before dawn and start for the climb. The weather at the top can be quite unpredictable and stormy at the afternoon therefore it is suggested to start as early as possible. Our expedition guide will set up the ropes and we will follow him for the climb. The views of the mountains in Annapurna region from the top of Chulu east peal is fascinating. Beholding the beauty of mountains, we descend down to the Base camp. Overnight at a tented camp in Chulu High Camp.

This a day set aside in case of any contingency. If you could not climb the summit of Chulu East Peak in day 11 due to any unforeseen circumstances, we can climb the peak today.

Have you heard about the magnificence of Manang valley? Yes! It’s our destination for today. We retrace our journey back to Pisang via Juju and continue our trail to Manang. We pass the yak herds and some settlements to beautiful Manang valley. Overnight at a guesthouse in Manang valley.

Leaving Manang, we head towards Thorong La Phedi We follow our trail to Yak Phedi with the views of Annapurna II, III, IV and Gangapurna on backdrop. From Yak Kharka, our path rises slowly to the beautiful Thorong valley. From the valley, we further climb up to base camp at Thorong Phedi. Overnight at a guesthouse in Thorong Phedi.

Today is an exciting and adventurous day. We start our trek early in the morning at about 4 a.m. We ought to cross the Thorong La Pass late by 10 a.m. as the weather in that altitude is highly fluctuating. If late, the storm and wind may act as an obstacle to our journey. At Thorong La Pass, we are at the highest point of our trek i.e. 5416 metres. We pass Thorong La Pass to reach Muktinath. Muktinath is a holy destination to both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage. People believe that all your sorrows and grief will flee way after your journey to this place. Apart from its religious values, this is a wonderful site for the awe inspiring mountain views. Overnight at a guesthouse in Muktinath.

Today, we descend down to Jomson via Kagbeni. The popular Kali Gandagi gorge is the main attraction for the day. We follow the valley floor to Jomson which is stretched out to banks of Kali Gandaki River on both sides. The view of Nilgiri peaks from this point is spectacular. Overnight at a guesthouse in Jomson.

We take an early flight to Pokhara. You can utilize remaining part of the day resting or being involved in other adventure activities. You can also opt for sightseeing tour to some spectacular places like lakeside, Gupteshwor temple, David’s fall (water fall) and International Mountain Museum. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara

Today, we make our way back to Kathmandu. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Finally, it is time for us to bid you a goodbye. Your guide will escort you to the airport before your scheduled flight for your journey ahead.
