Trip Overview

Tamang Heritage Trail Trek is a perfect place to see the beautiful green midlands of Langtang region. This is a newly established trekking route between Langtang and Ganesh Himal. Thus, it is also a great chance to see the culturally rich passes through the villages of Langtang region. Similarly, you can experience the culture, religion and daily lifestyle of Tamang community of Langtang region through this trek. Hence, the encounter with the ancient lifestyle of these indigenous people is a major highlight of this Trek.

The trek begins from Syabru Bensi after a long day drive from Kathmandu. During the trek, you can get the insights of the Tamang community, rituals, Tibetan culture, festivals, traditional architectures, customs, languages, and costumes. Another major highlight of this trek is the local Syabru dance which reflects the beauty of local Tamang community and culture. Likewise, you can enjoy Syabru, Mane and other local dances too at Goljung and Gatlang. From Goljung Pass, you can have a very beautiful view of Langtang and Kerung. The view from there is totally awe inspiring.

The local people of Langtang are mainly engaged in agriculture and while some are engaged in making Handicraft items. They make traditional caps, mufflers and other items like baskets, purse, etc. The items made by them are kept for sale too. This gives an opportunity to interact with the locals. Therefore, this trek is a perfect combination of nature and cultural diversity for a vibrant experience.

A relaxing hot water bath at Tatopani completes the trek. Also, the ancient monasteries and houses adorn with wood carving at Thuman makes the journey more exciting. Moreover, the home stays and famous Tamang hospitality in Briddhim is something you would not want to miss.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu
Welcome to Nepal! You will be picked up by our representative at the airport and escorted to the hotel for check in. The guide will describe you the plans ahead. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour
Wake up for an exciting day as your guide will escort you to the UNESCO listed heritage sites in Kathmandu. The tour today is all about art, culture and history that Nepal possesses. Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath stupa, Pashupatinath temple and Boudhanath stupa. The day can be an enlightenment of Hindu and Buddhist culture. You can also prepare for the trekking that starts the other day by buying some left out items, final packing and other preparations. Stay at your hotel in the evening.
Day 3: Drive to SyabruBesi
Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. Your guide will pick you up at the hotel and escort you to the vehicle which will take you to the SyabruBesi. We drive north-west to Kathmandu enjoying the views of lush hills and terraced farmlands until we reach SyanbruBesi. Spend your night at a guesthouse in Syabrubesi.
Day 4: SyabruBesi to Galtang
Leaving SyabruBesi, we ascend up for around an hour and half to a vantage point from where we can get some outstanding views of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and Goljang valley. After beholding enough beauty from the point, we descend down for around an hour to Galjang valley. Following our trail, we walk for around three hours to a popular Tamang village to Galtang. Enjoy the warm greetings from local people along with homemade local drink and local songs. Stay at a guesthouse in Galtang for the night.
Day 5: Galtang to Tatopani
Today, we head towards a place with natural hot water springs known as Tatopani. Today would be the longest day of our journey however a bath in the hot water spring at Tatopani would act as an ailment to soothe away all the pains and tiredness. At first, we begin to descend down to Thangbuchet (a place near Chilime village). We can see the Chilime Hydropower Dam at the Bhotekoshiriver from this place. We enjoy our lunch and ascend up to cross a hanging bridge to tatopani. We stay at a guesthouse in Tatopani for the night.
Day 6: Tatopani to Nagthali
We continue our trail that ascends up to Nagthali Dada. Nagthali Dada we will have hot lunch after that hike to the Kyanging ri view point (4800m). We can see the panoramic views of Lantang Ri, Tibetan border, Ganesh Himal Range, Manslu Range, Gauri Shanker range and many more. After the beautiful views of the mountain we will descend down to the Nagthali Dada.
Day 7: Nagthali Dada to Timur( 7hrs trek)
Leaving Nagthali Dada, we head towards Timur which is an old trade route to Tibet. In the remembrance of Nepal Tibetan relationships, there is a fort set up here which is a historical reminder of a good relation between people of the area and Tibet that has been existing since many centuries. We stay at a guesthouse in Timur for the night.
Day 8: Timure to Kathmandu
Today, we will drive back to Kathmandu by private vehicle.
Day 9: Farewell
After eight days of companionship, it’s time to bid you a goodbye. Your guide will escort you to the airport before your scheduled flight for your journey ahead. Hope you had a good time with us.
