A flight from Kathmandu to Paru airport will allow you to traverse through the mountainous terrain of Nepal and Bhutan. The towering peaks of Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt. Makalu will be clearly visible to you during the flight which is nothing less than any mountain flights in Nepal. Upon your arrival at Paro, our Bhutanese crew will assist you for your journey ahead. You will drive across a beautiful chain of mountains that divides Paro from Thimpu valley.

On the way, you will pass a lake which is full of giant trout fishes. This sight of lake and trout fishes will leave you in astonishment. The drive from Paro to Thimpu goes through a sparsely populated area. Therefore you will find peace and serenity in the air. The lush landscape with the views of the mountain in the backdrop adds to your drive and you will get a feeling as if the ride would never end.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Paro
A flight to Paro takes you across the Himalayas to Bhutan. The flight in itself is nothing less than a mountain flight. You pass above the Himalayas admiring the magnificence of snow-capped mountains standing tall one after another. As you arrive at the airport in Paro, your guide i.e. our Bhutanese crew will pick you up and escort you to a hotel for check in. Get refreshed and rest for a while. After lunch, you will be escorted to Ta Dzong, a national museum that treasures the old paintings, armours and many other things of cultural and historical importance. After museum, you will be taken to the oldest temple of Bhutan – Kichu Lhakhang for sightseeing. Spend the night at your hotel. (Lunch and dinner included.)
Day 2: Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery
We start our day with a hike to Tiger’s nest monastery. Also known as Taktsang monastery, it is one of the most popular monasteries in Bhutan that holds its own importance. According to a mythology, Guru Rinpoche has fled on a back of tigress to meditate in a cliff and it is the place where the monastery stands now. It is also popular for its dramatic location at the edge of the cliff. After exploring the monastery and its rich crafts, we descend down to Paro. Overnight at a hotel in Paro. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.)
Day 3: Paro – Jele Dzong
We take our breakfast and drive towards the National Museum, which is the starting point of our trek. The trail ascends gradually up until we reach our camp. If the weather is clear, we will be blessed with the spectacular views of the Paro valley in the backdrop of snow-capped mountains including Mt. Jumolhari. Above the camp is Jele La Dzong (3,400m) which is mostly in ruins and there is a Lhakhang with the statute of Buddha Sakyamuni. Overnight in a tented camp. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.)
Day 4: Jele Dzong – Jangchulakha
We begin our day with an hour and half climb followed by a gradual ascent. The trail takes us through thick alpine and rhododendron forests to yak herders around our campsite. Today we will be showered with some awesome views of Jomolhari and other snow-capped peaks. If lucky, we can also encounter some pheasants during the day. Overnight in a tented camp. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.)
Day 5: Jangchulakha – Jimilangtsho – Langrithang
We follow a ridge to Jimilangtsho with views of the mountains and valley on our sight. Today, we stop at the lakes of Jimilangtso for lunch. These lakes are famous for the giant sized trout fishes which can be clearly seen from the edge of lake water. From this point, we can also enjoy the clear views of Jichu Drake (6989 m). The peak of Jichu Drake represents the protective deity of Paro. We continue our journey further and descend down to Langrithang where we set our tents for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.)
Day 6: Langrithang – Tsaluna – Thimphu
Today, the trail takes us through the fir and rhododendrons forests to a stream. We follow the stream and continue walking until we reach Tsaluna Monastery. Tsaluna monastery is a sacred site of Guru Rinpoche that holds history of 8th century. Leaving monastery, we descend down to Tsaluna Village and pass the beautiful farms on our way. After few hours of walking, we reach to a place where a car would be ready for us to drop us to Thimphu. As we arrive in Thimpu, you can stroll around the town on your own. Overnight at hotel in Thimphu. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.)
Day 7: Thimphu – Paro and depart from Paro
Leaving Thimphu, we head towards Paro. Your guide will escort you to the airport before your scheduled flight for your journey ahead. Hope you had a good time with us!
