Trip Overview

The Everest 3 High Passes Trek is a challenging and popular trekking route in the Everest region of Nepal. It involves crossing three high passes: Renjo La Pass (5,360m), Cho La Pass (5,420m), and Kongma La Pass (5,535m), as well as visiting popular Everest base camp and Kalapatthar viewpoint.

The trek typically takes around 20-24 days and requires a good level of fitness and experience in high-altitude trekking. Along the way, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest, and the chance to immerse yourself in the unique Sherpa culture of the region.

Some of the highlights of the Everest 3 High Passes Trek include the Gokyo Lakes, the Ngozumpa Glacier, and the Everest Base Camp. It is also possible to extend the trek to include a climb of Island Peak (6,189m), a popular peak among trekkers and climbers.

It’s important to plan the trek well and ensure you have adequate equipment, including warm clothing and a good sleeping bag, as temperatures can drop significantly at night. Hiring a guide and porter is recommended for safety and to help carry gear.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport
You will be welcomed by us at the airport and transferred to the hotel for check in. Enjoy your time at the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: Sightseeing tour and trek preparation
Early in the morning, your guide will pick you up at the hotel for the sightseeing tour. Enjoy the historical and cultural aspect of Nepal in Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath stupa, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath stupa. Today’s day is set aside for any last minute preparation for your trek if necessary.
Day 3: Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding(2610m)
Today, we initiate our trekking journey with an absolutely amazing flight to Lukla. Endure the awesomeness of being parallel to sky dominating peaks with a wonderful landscape beneath! As we arrive Lukla, we make our way along the Dudhkoshi river to Phakding via Cheplung village. Overnight halt at a guesthouse in Phakding.
Day 4: Trek to Namche(3440m)
Today, we head to one of the happening towns in the Everest region – Namche Bazaar. At first we pass village of Jorsale and enter the Sagarmatha National park. The backdrop of the beautiful mountains in Everest region, mani stone and carved walls with prayers, everything during our trek is simply outstanding. You will pass some not so pleasing trail on the way, however, the unique flora and fauna along with the excitement of crossing long suspension bridge in the way will keep you alive. Overnight stay at Namche.
Day 5: Acclimatization in Namche(3438m)
Today, we spend our day in Namche itself as this day is set aside for acclimatization. Marching forward without proper acclimatization may lead to altitude sickness. Therefore, today, we wander around the joyful village of Namche and hike up to Everest View Hotel with Synagboche Airport on the way. The views of the mountains from Everest View Hotel is fabulous. You can enjoy your sip of tea or coffee enjoying the awesome views of mountains like Mt. Everest, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Tawache, Mt. Thamserku, etc. The museum and photo gallery on our way back is also another attraction of the day. Overnight stay at Namche.
Day 6: Trek to Tengboche(3870m)
Today, our trek continues along the backdrop of majestic mountains to Tengboche. The spiritual destination of Buddhist people – Tengboche monastery is one of the major attraction of this place. Collecting the spirituality from this place and admiring the views of stunning mountains, we spent our night at a guesthouse in Tengboche.
Day 7: Trek to Dingboche(4360m)
Today, we descend down through beautiful forest and cross Imja Khola to Pangboche. We continue our journey through the pastures of Dingboche enjoying the views of mountains like Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Everest and other neighboring peaks along. We stop at a guesthouse in Dingboche for overnight halt.
Day 8: Trek to Chukung(4750m)
Leaving the pastures of Dingboche, we head towards a small Sherpa settlement village called Chukung. Here, we can interact with people and feel their warm welcome. The views of the mountains in Everest region from this point is nothing less than any aspiring view. We spend our night here, at a guesthouse in CHukung.
Day 9: Hike to Chukung Ri(5546m)
Today is a free day in Chhukung set aside for acclimatization! We hike up to Chukung Ri to admire the magnificent views of mountains in the region. Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Chhukung.
Day 10: Trek to Lobuche(4940m)
Today, we start of journey to Lobuche. Our journey for the day is bit difficult due to the altitude in which we are travelling and the rocky terrain throughout. Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Lobuche.
Day 11: Trek to Ghorekshep(5170m) and to Everest Base Camp(5364m)
Today, we continue our journey to Goreshep. Our journey today can be one of the exciting days of our trek as we will be in the top of the world – Everest Base Camp. As we reach Goreshep, we head towards Everest Base Camp. The journey can be difficult as the air at this altitude is very thin, however, the stunning views of mountains and the accomplishment of being on the top of the world will make us keep going. We return to Gorekshep for an overnight
Day 12: Hike to Kalapattar(5545m) and descend down to Dzongla(4830m)
Yet another memorable day of our trip, we hike up to Kalapattar to behold the beauty of sun rise amidst the towering mountains. The golden rays on the white snow; the combination is absolutely phenomenon. The close up views of the mountains like Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Ama Dablam, the feeling is simply mesmerizing; tantalizing. From Kalapattar, we descend down to Dzongla where we will stay for the night.
Day 13: Trek to Dragnak/Thangna(4700m)
Today we climb up to Chola pass and cross the pass. The view of the Everest region from the pass is phenomenon. The snow clad peaks, icy glaciers, everything is so wild and quaint. Leaving the pass, we descend down to Thangna where we will stay for the night.
Day 14: Trek to Gokyo lakes(5000m)
Today, we climb up a ridge for the excellent views of the nature ahead of you and beneath you. The glorious view of the valley that you left behind and the fantastic view above towards Cho-yu. We walk through the ravine of Chola Pass and Renjala pass to Gokyo Lake. On our left we will find the glorious Ngazumpa glacier. After a few hours walk, we reach Gokyo village which would be ours halting destination for the night.
Day 15: Hike to Gokyo Ri(5357m)
Today’s morning is a special morning of our entire trek as we wake up and hike up to Gokyo Ri to admire the sunrise above the mountains with the beautiful view of azure mountains and beautiful valley. The views of mountains like Mt. Pumori, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Thamserku and Kusum Kangaroo is spell bounding. In the evening, we walk down to Gokyo village for overnight halt.
Day 16: Trek to Lunden via Renjo La Pass(5360m)
A challenging and exciting day of our journey where we cross the Renjo la Pass. As we cross the pass we descend down and make our way along the wild landscape and cross yet another pass called Kongma la pass. We continue descending down until we reach Lunden. We stay at a guesthouse in Lunden for the night.
Day 17: Trek to Thame(3800m)
Leaving Thame, we move ahead enjoying the views of magnificent snow clad mountains. At thame, we encounter people that have similar lifestyle like that of people in Tibet. We visit s famous Thame monastery in the village and stay at a guesthouse in Thame for the night.
Day 18: Trek to Namche(3440m)
Today, we start retracing our journey back. We walk down to Namche Bazaar. Overnight at a guesthouse in Namche Bazaar.
Day 19: Trek back to Lukla
Today, we stroll down along the same route to Lukla. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 20: Fly back to Kathmandu
Today, we head back to the capital city – Kathmandu, the place from where we started our journey. Overnight in the hotel.
Day 21: Leisure Day in Kathmandu
Today is your leisure day in Kathmandu. You can either rest or stroll across the valley for shopping or anything else as per your preference. Overnight in the hotel.
Day 22: Departure Day
Finally, it is time for us to bid you a goodbye. Your guide will escort you to the airport before your scheduled flight for your journey ahead.
